The NZIC 2019 conference will take place on the campus of the University of Canterbury | Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha. The campus has undergone major refurbishment in recent years with the opening of the Ernest Rutherford Regional Science and Innovation Centre housing interdisciplinary research in Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Geology and Geography as well as teaching in all these disciplines and Biology.

The welcome reception for the conference will take place on the Sunday evening after the welcome ceremony, opening plenary speaker and keynote speaker. The welcome reception will be hosted in the magnificent atrium of the new Ernest Rutherford building on the UC campus.

The conference dinner will take place in the Limes Room at Christchurch Town Hall. The Christchurch Town Hall is one of the City’s most recognisable pieces of architecture and one of New Zealand’s premier performance venues.

Damaged in the 2011 quakes, the town hall has undergone three years of restoration work including strengthening to 100% of the new building standard, reinstating its iconic heritage features as well as a
significant upgrade and overall refurbishment.

The Limes Room will host our conference dinner, with a three course meal and entertainment from local band Old Skool! They are happy to do requests so if you have a particular favourite you would like them to play let Sarah Masters know and we’ll see what we can do!

To get there from campus you could Uber or indeed Lime Scooter to the Limes Room!
